It’s like if they ended The Return of the King right when Frodo and Sam got to Mordor in The Lord of the Rings. While this part of the story is not bad in the book and there’s actually a lot of action in the movie, it’s just not a complete story, which was always going to be the risk when they decided to split the seventh and final book into two parts. They ditch senior year (Year 7) at Hogwarts to do what Dumbledore told Harry needed to be done in order to defeat Voldemort. In the movie, Harry, Ron, and Hermione embark on their epic quest to find Voldemort’s horcruxes. The Deathly Hallows Part 1 basically only moved the story forward and ends right in the middle of the action, very sad action. ![]() There’s a clear resolution and something that moves the story forward. Each of those has a beginning, middle, and end. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 isn’t a bad movie, but there’s not a lot going on compared to the other movies.
